Workforce Opportunities is a skills-based, literacy-focused program of 37 weeks. This program is funded by the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
This three-semester program is comprised of two in-class semesters and a work placement, and will offer two streams that will transition students into sectors with employment opportunities, as follows:
Help Desk Assistant:
This program is designed for students who want to improve their career opportunities within the ICT sector and is intended to enable youth to overcome barriers, develop confidence and transition into the workplace. Throughout the program, students will take part in computer-related training opportunities and acquire the skills, professionalism and adaptability required to succeed in the ICT field.
Home Care Assistant:
This program is designed for students who possess a drive to provide quality care to others. Home Care Assistants have an essential role in home care while having a positive impact on the individuals they care for. With an increasing demand for home care workers throughout our province, the Workforce Opportunities program will provide the skills required to succeed in this essential field and enable youth to overcome barriers, develop confidence, and transition into the workplace
