Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) invites expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in joining the Board of Directors in the volunteer role of Director.

We are recruiting three (3) Board members to replace those whose terms are ending.

WRDC is a provincial non-profit organization committed to increasing gender diversity in trades and technology. With private and public funding, WRDC offers a variety of programs and services to address challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention, and advancement of women and gender-diverse people in these sectors. WRDC was formed in 1997, and created a charitable arm, the Educational Resource Centre (WRDC-ERC), in 2002, to provide hands-on career exploration opportunities for female and gender-diverse youth.

Board of Directors

The WRDC Board of Directors is a volunteer governance board, which governs the organization through a Strategic Plan, Governance Policies, and By-laws.

The principal expectations of Board members include:

  • Support WRDC’s mandate, values, and strategic plan
  • Serve a three-year term
  • Attend seven virtual 2.5-hour regular board meetings a year
  • Attend special meetings as required
  • Be willing to serve on the Executive and/or a sub-committee
  • Be willing to lend support in their area of expertise on an as-needed basis

WRDC is seeking candidates with experience on not-for-profit or other corporate boards combined with knowledge of and/or experience with board governance. Education, skills, and experience in relevant industries and sectors, human resources, legal or financial oversight would be considered assets.
