Global Eats is Ready to Serve

St. John's, Newfoundland

The Association for New Canadians’ latest training initiative is a tasty addition to the St. John’s food scene. Global Eats is the public face of a program that gives former refugees the language and skills they need to work in Canadian restaurants. After months of language and culinary training at Academy Canada, the 11 students moved to a prep kitchen, collaborated on a menu, and are now working to prepare and serve a multi-cultural menu from the colourful truck. Everything is made in-house: from pickles and lemonades to sauces and breads. Global Eats will (usually) be open for lunch in the parking lot of St. David’s Church, 98 Elizabeth Avenue, from Wednesday through Saturday, but check the Facebook page for daily updates. Go to Facebook: ANC Global Eats. You’ll also see it at some local events, including the Royal St. John’s Regatta.
